Don’t Leave Your Training Until the Last Minute.

During a recent route recce, Mike discovered the hard way that leaving your training until the last minute isn’t exactly the best strategy for taking on a four-day stage race.

Let’s just say that the experience was a good reminder that M&G Investments PE PLETT is not something you want to arrive at unprepared for.

The good news? It doesn’t have to be you.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best, looking to race flat-out in The Ride, or simply want to enjoy the journey with friends as part of The Tour, arriving at the start line prepared will make a huge difference to your experience.

After all, the goal isn’t simply to make it from one village to the next. It’s to enjoy the ride.

Why Start Training Now?

A four-day stage race requires more than just being able to ride your bike for a few hours.

You need to be ready for the cumulative demands of riding day after day, tackling climbs, technical sections and changing terrain, while still having enough energy left to enjoy the experience.

Starting your preparation early gives your body time to adapt and allows you to build your fitness gradually rather than trying to cram months of training into the final few weeks before the event.

A structured training plan can help you:

  • Build your fitness and strength steadily, giving your body time to adapt to the demands of endurance riding.
  • Reduce your risk of injury and burnout by avoiding a last-minute rush to get fit.
  • Prepare for the climbing, technical riding and varied terrain you’ll encounter along the route.
  • Build your confidence so you can take on each stage knowing you’re ready for the challenge.
  • Recover more effectively between stages, helping you get the most out of all four days.

The riders who get the most out of the M&G Investments PE PLETT aren’t necessarily the fastest riders on the start line.

They’re the riders who arrive ready.
